Experience
Mike has experience as a project and development manager / owner’s representative, a project development executive for a real estate owner, a project and real estate manager for a retailer and a financial services firm, and as a licensed architect. His project experience includes diverse asset types, including office residential, hotel, retail, restaurant, educational and healthcare, with experience in new buildings, building redevelopment projects and interior renovations, ranging in size from boutique projects to projects of more than 2 million square feet.
His client list includes owners and tenants, developers, investors and lenders. Some clients have hired him to manage the entire project process from project inception through the design, construction and project closeout phases, while on other projects he was hired for just the bid and award, construction and closeout project phases. Scope of services options include full project management services, project management oversight for build to suit, joint venture and landlord turnkey projects, and project monitoring services. Mike provides pro forma capital expenditure modeling and project schedules for potential projects and provides transaction support for real estate leasing and sales transactions.
Before starting DeJohn Associates, he was a partner and executive in other project management firms, where he helped develop project management processes, procedures, software and quality assurance programs to manage major complex projects.
Mike is an adviser and advocate for clients throughout the entire project process, through comprehensive information analysis and effective communication, in order to achieve the client’s project goals. He serves clients who want a senior level of advisory services exceeding expectations, with a personalized results-oriented approach, in order to empower them to make informed business decisions and maximize business opportunities.
He earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Pratt Institute and is a registered architect. Mike also has an MBA in Corporate Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a Past Chapter Chair for the CoreNet Global Real Estate Association and served on the Strategic Planning Committee, and he earned the Member of the Year Award. Mike has published numerous articles on construction and real estate issues for prominent magazines. He has also taught courses in project management and real estate development.
